At an operating speed of 150 CFM, the range hood's sound level is only slightly more than a quiet running refrigerator but still delivers enough ventilation for typical cooking. For times when additional ventilation is required the high speed of 270 CFM can handle the task.

Disappointing performance

I purchased this item for installation over a new range with a smooth black cooktop. The Air King does look good, although mine arrived with a long scratch on the vent panel. I found the fan to be pleasantly quiet.Unfortunately there were two significant problems. The included light is an energy-saving bulb with a twist-in base; it's supposed to be the equivalent of a 100-watt incandescent, but it is far dimmer than the 60-watt bulb in my previous range hood, and seems more comparable to a 25-watt or 40-watt incandescent. I wanted to replace it with a more powerful bulb, but the Air King will not accept any other. The unit features a second light (a 4-watt night light) that serves little practical purpose.The other problem is the fan. There are actually two of them, and although they operate quietly, they aren't very powerful and don't clear as much smoke as the single fan in my old range hood, made by Broan. At this price point, I'd have to say that the Air King hood offers disappointing performance.

Air King ESDQ1308 30 inch Range Hood Vented/ductless Stainless Steel

Purchased this item because needed a ductless range hood for my kitchen. Only problem is I have a husband that doesn't like to read directions so always takes twice as long because has to redo things. The blower needed to be unscrewed and turned toward vents in front for ductless. In description it doesn't say 2 grease filters are included which they were by the way. It says when ordering people also ordered the filter so I did order thinking there would be 2 but only 1 was in package. Filters are washable which is a plus.

As billed - excellent

We wanted a range hood with strong exhaust capability to clear the area of fumes from cooking and keep the smoke detectors from going off, many cheaper units are too weak to have much effect. But, we did not want a noisy unit. This model has performed nicely, above-average exhaust capacity and very, very quiet. It replaced our second over-the-range microwave oven / exhaust fan / light, and the over-stove microwaves all fall apart after a few years, they really are not built for the environment they are in (duh). This Air King hood was well-rated in consumer magazine ratings, looks great, so quiet it's almost disturbing but it does move the air well, and has a light. Installation was pretty easy, my wife (who is handy) installed it. We bough a countertop microwave, we're done with over the stove for microwaves.
