Has a nice look but is NOT a 36" hood!!

I looked high and low for a review of this range hood before ordering it online. Unfortunately I was unable to locate one. We liked the lines and simple front in the photos and being made in China it fit our budget a little better than the higher end brand names. What I did not notice when I bought it was that the width dimension is NOT 36" which is a real problem when you are mounting it under a 36" cabinet. The width is 3/4" narrower than the cabinet and with flanking cabinets it leaves 3/8" gaps on either side. Not only is the appearance not as nice but it leaves a nice grease collection pocket between the hood and adjacent cabinets.I contacted the distributor in California and they said it was "industry standard" practice to undersize it for "variance in opening for the hood". Well if it is industry practice then someone forgot to tell the rest of the industry because I could not find another 36" undermount hood that didn't have a 36" dimension!As for the function of the unit, it does what it is supposed to (so far) but if you are looking for a clean look to your kitchen, look elsewhere. Also, if the width is not an issue for you, check your local building codes before you install it. Most do not allow you to use the flex duct provided with the unit (most codes require rigid steel duct).
