Zephyr Pyramid Hood

I have had this model (Zephyr Europa Pyramid 30") for about 3 years now. The hood itself is nice looking and suits our kitchen design, however... it is beyond me why they make the switch component on the underside out of plastic!!! The switch for both the fan and light has melted and warped on me repeatedly. Zephyr kept sending me replacements but now say it is out of warranty. My hood is the minimum 24" from the range and still the warping/melting occurs. This is the fault of Zephyr for not making a better non-plastic switch. As far as I'm concerned I would not purchase this hood again.

Too noisy

I purchased this particular hood not only because of the styling but waht was described as more than an acceptable noise level. Although the specs indicate that this hood to considerably less noisy than the cheaper models this hood is still too noisy for me. By the way, the hood was installed by a professional!

Beautiful hood and good performance

About a year ago I replaced an old over the range microwave/hood combo with this model and performs much, much better. This hood is quieter and actually prevents the odors of previous meals from lingering in the air like they did with my microwave.I don't have a fancy range or anything, just a ceramic glass electric range and this fits my needs perfectly. Pay no attention to the other reviews giving this hood one star. If you install the hood over the appropriate cooking equipment you won't have any problems.
