Helicopter in your kitchen?

The Broan Range Hood sounds like a helicopter in my kitchen. I have it adjusted to the lowest setting and it still sounds like a windstorm. I'm not sure if others are experiencing the same sounds, but I won't be able to keep this product. While it looks great and probably does a great job, the noise is so ridiculously loud that I need to yell across the counter to say hello. Disappointed!

A great value for a quality product

This hood is a great value for a well made (in the USA) product.Pros:Very stylish with easy to use traditional (non-eletronic)controls.Super well built.Straight forward installation.Very effective for a 600 cfm hood. I cooked fish the first time I used it to test its abilities and it passed with flying colors.Cons:Noise. To get rid of all the smoking you have to turn it all the way up and it is quite loud. Since I don,t cook a lot of really smelly stuff, I think that it is a small compromise. The other solution is to cook on a back burner were the smoke is easily captured by the hood on lower power settings.NOTE: The installation requires a transition piece to connect it to the duct work and this piece must be purchased separately; so check the type of installation you need and order it at the same time. Pretty, shiny, sucks your hat off but LOUD.

Settled on this model with a 600 CFM internal motor & external ducting (BOTH SOLD SEPARATELY !!!) after HOURS of internet research and comparing against other models and brands. Things I like: GREAT LOOKING hood - extends outward and downward far enough to cover ALL of my range BURNERS. SUBSTANTIAL SS filters with solid handles. Very EASY to wire up. Things I DON'T like: LOUD on higher speeds. THINNER, non-commercial grade (22 ga.)stainless steel. 50 Watt halogen bulbs are NOT INCLUDED..REALLY???, I had to go out & purchase some of the required mounting screws ..COME ON! Light bulbs rattle in the flimsy sockets provided. Installation instructions were VERY HARD to understand. Almost none of the steel edges were DE-BURRED and were SHARP enough to cut you during installation. There is only one VERY small, hard to see blue fan-on indicator light on the front edge of the hood and NO light-on indicator. Controls are still HARD TO FIND after several weeks of constant use.
