This range hood is good looking and draws well. It is as quiet as advertised when operating on the lowest setting, but is fairly loud when running full blast. The lowest speed does not open the back draft flap on the external ducted vent on the outside wall, but the higher ones do. Preparation for installation requires a fair amount of assembly of the internal parts, one of which is a piece of plastic to block the exhaust to the room when an external duct and vent are used. (It can be used without external venting, with the air just going through the filter and back in to the room.) Either this piece is not tight enough, or there are other air leaks, because some air is vented to the room anyway. I plan to disassemble the unit and tape up as many internal leak sources as I can find, including the vent to the room in hopes of reducing this leakage.It took a while to see how the internal blocking plastic piece should be installed. It just slips into place, but that was not obvious. The tech on the help line knew exactly what to tell me to accomplish this step.I am not an expert, but this unit seems as effective as can be obtained without building a huge custom hood. It is also probably as quiet as can be made.

The hood was received from Amazon within a reasonable time. The price was good. Don't try to install it yourself unless you have some experience. I had a pro install it. Had to buy two recommended bulbs. None came with the product. The first two fan speeds were not noisy. The third and fourth were, but I expected that after reading the reviews. If being attached to a roof vent, be sure you turn on the fan on high and feel for any leaks between the hood and the connection to the roof vent. Tape over any air leaks. There will be slight blow back into the kitchen from the top of the exposed hood. This is normal. However, if the hood is not installed properly the blow back could be intense. If you want to vent the hood back into the kitchen you will have to purchase special filters, which would have to be replaced periodically. The venting through the roof filters can be washed in the dish washer and put back into the hood. All in all we are happy with the hood.Broan QS336BL QS3 Series 36-Inch Range Hood, Black

Love the style and design - looks very nice & updates my kitchen big time, only negative is that the front burner steam is not trapped very well. This has always been a problem with range hoods for me & unless I go to the big overhead restaurant style hood, probabably cannot be changed. Overall, really like it!!! Love the lighting and the sound is reasonably quiet.
