Everything was great until...

I bought this range hood about 2 years ago and for the most part I love it. EXCEPT this one really annoying thing. One of the knobs that turns the fan on/off broke within the first few months I owned it. No problem, I called Broan and they sent me two new ones for free. Only one was broken so I saved the other spare. A few months later another knob broke and then another. Now I have two more broken ones. The fan still works but I have to use the tiny little piece that is attached to the fan to turn the light or fan on/off. The replacement part is only 70 cents (that explains a lot), but shipping is between $6-$10 not to mention the hassle. Why (?!) would you get everything right and then cheap out on a detail like this?
