Quiet and effective range hood

We love our new range hood. It came on time as ordered. While the installation was not quick or simple, the instructions were clear and it just took a bit of time and care to do a good job.It looks great in our kitchen; the stainless reflects the cabinet colors and it opens it up visually as opposed to the old white microwave.But the real payoff is that when we are cooking spicy, high-heat fried or sauteed meat dishes, it clears the air of the acrid odors and grease that used to fill the whole house. We particularly like the 'delay' feature: touch a button when the fan is on, and it will continue until the air is cleared, then turn itself off automatically. This is especially welcome since at the lowest setting, it is virtually impossible to hear it running.The lighting is helpful too since our kitchen lights are not very well focused for cooking.

Great Hood

Broan Allure III QS330SS 30" Under Cabinet Range Hood with 430 CFM Internal Blower, Four-Speed Electronic Control and Three-Level Light Settings: Stainless SteelLooks great... Arrived ahead of schedule. Initially installed in recirculating mode. Recommends using just the first two fan settings in this mode. Can be noisy on level two. Best to be vented to outside to take advantage of all the features. Matches my Electrolux wavetouch beautifully. Price and features are what sold me on this product.

Vented or Unvented?

You get what you pay for. This is a good quality (as long as it is vented), high volume hood that is relatively quiet. IF YOU USE IT UNVENTED - AIR LEAKS AROUND THE FILTER (according to Consumers Reports - this is why they downgraded it).Ours is vented and we are very happy with it. It is reasonably quiet and it sucks good.5 stars if you are willing to pay the premium for a good VENTED hood.1 star if you are looking for a good UNVENTED hood.It is not cheap (I would give it 5 stars for the "vented" review if it were more reasonably priced).
